Margot Robbie to Tower Over Screens in Tim Burton’s ‘Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman’

It’s official — Tim Burton’s reimagining of the 1958 sci-fi cult classic Attack of the 50 Foot Woman is back on the radar in a big way, and this time with some serious star power attached.

According to a new scoop from The Insider, Margot Robbie has officially signed on to star in and produce the Warner Bros. project, which had been quietly simmering since it was first announced back in February 2024. Now it’s heating up fast — and with Burton directing, Robbie in the lead, and her production company LuckyChap backing it.

Originally written by Gone Girl mastermind Gillian Flynn, the film was pitched as a stylish, modern reimagining of the original 1958 B-movie, which starred Allison Hayes as a wealthy heiress who, after a close encounter with a UFO, grows to an impossible size — and takes revenge on those who wronged her. Think retro sci-fi meets social satire, filtered through Burton’s signature visual flair, the perfect dark director for this kind of project.

Flynn's script laid the groundwork for Margot Robbie to play in Tim Burton’s ‘Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman’, but she won’t be returning for the rewrite. With other projects on her plate, Warner Bros. is now on the hunt for a new writer to polish the next draft.

And with Robbie on board — fresh off the record-shattering success of Barbie — WB is clearly betting on another bold, female-led blockbuster. Pair that with Burton’s gothic imagination (last seen in Wednesday and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice), and Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman might just be one of his most ambitious studio efforts in years.

Stay tuned for more updates. #yourfavoritescarymovie
