Crawl 2

‘Crawl 2’ Sequel Officially Happening. Fans of heart-pounding horror are in for a treat as the terrifying waters of Crawl are set to rise again. Released in 2019, Alexandre Aja's Crawl took audiences on a nerve-wracking journey where Kaya Scodelario’s character, Haley, faced a devastating Category 5 hurricane and a swarm of bloodthirsty alligators. This thrilling mix of suspense and action horror captivated viewers, earning the film an impressive $91 million worldwide on a modest $13 million budget.

Given its success, it's no surprise that sequel talks began almost immediately. And now, the wait is nearly over—Crawl 2 is officially in development, with Aja returning to the director's chair. This news, reported by The Hollywood Reporter (THR), is already generating excitement among fans who have been eagerly awaiting a follow-up.

A New Setting, A New Terror

While the original Crawl was set against the backdrop of a flooding Florida town, the sequel is taking a fresh and ambitious turn. According to THR, Crawl 2 will move the action to the more urban dangers of New York City. The idea of an alligator-infested New York, combined with Aja's signature style, promises a unique and thrilling horror experience. This shift in location is bound to add a new layer of tension and terror, exploring how these deadly predators might wreak havoc in a city already fraught with its own set of challenges.

The sequel will also feature a new cast, stepping away from the story of Haley and her father to introduce a fresh set of characters who will undoubtedly find themselves in a similarly terrifying situation.

The Team Behind the Terror

Alexandre Aja has long been recognized as a master of horror, with a filmography that includes the intense High Tension, the brutal remake of The Hills Have Eyes, and the campy fun of Piranha 3D. His return to direct Crawl 2 ensures that the sequel will maintain the high standard of suspense and visceral horror that fans have come to expect from his work.

Joining Aja are writers Andrew Deutschman and Jason Pagan, known for their work on Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. Their experience in crafting supernatural scares could bring an intriguing twist to the creature feature genre. Meanwhile, horror legend Sam Raimi, who produced the original Crawl, is also returning to produce the sequel, further solidifying Crawl 2 as a project with serious horror pedigree.

What to Expect

While details are still emerging, Crawl 2 is shaping up to be a thrilling continuation of the franchise. The change of location to New York City opens up a world of possibilities. Stay updated on Your Favorite Scary Movies!
