Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reboot Holds First Table Read at Hulu

It’s officially happening — the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot has taken its first major step forward with a table read, and star/executive producer Sarah Michelle Gellar was right at the center of it.

This week Gellar joined the new cast and crew for a read-through of the pilot episode, marking a fresh chapter in Sunnydale history. The episode is currently titled Episode 101: "Pilot", and while the series itself still doesn’t seem to have an official (or at least public) name — Gellar cheekily censored the title in her Instagram posts — fans are already in detective mode.

It appears the reverse side of the script's cover page lists characters from the pilot episode, starting with none other than Buffy “Anne” Summers herself.

But Buffy isn’t the only name visible. Fans say they can spot Poppy, Hugo, Gracie, and Mr. Burke on the list — a mix of names that feels very much like a high school supernatural lineup.

What We Still Don’t Know about the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reboot

One of the most intriguing details is that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reboot may not even be called Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The title was blurred out on Gellar’s post, suggesting a name change — either to signal a new era, or to center a new Slayer (and maybe pass the stake). Still, with Gellar involved both in front of and behind the camera, it’s clear this reboot isn’t erasing the past — it’s building on it.

Stay tuned, because a pilot shoot may be just around the corner — and we may soon be heading back to the Hellmouth in a whole new way.

What do you think the reboot should be called? Are you ready for a next-gen Slayer, or should Buffy always be the one and only? Let us know in the comments. #yourfavoritescarymovies
